SAGINAW, MI —

CMURC officials have announced the three Black-owned businesses selected to comprise the first Lift ME cohort.

The applicants selected for this initial cohort are: Delicious Sweets Bakeshop, Kakes The Great Popcorn Co. and Shangri’La

Candle Co.

CMURC officials made the announcement during the Saginaw Soup event Thursday evening, May 4, at the co-working space, 203 S. Washington Ave.

Nearly 40 entrepreneurs applied to participate in the program, and CMURC officials selected three after the scoring and interview process.

Erin Strang, president and CEO of CMURC, said Lift ME will “build upon the achievements of these entrepreneurs, elevate their businesses to the next level while recognizing their success along the way.”

“Special recognition to The Dow Company Foundation, Huntington Bank and PNC Bank for believing in our ability to make an impact, and standing behind our Inclusive entrepreneurship initiatives,” Strang said in a statement.

“Our goal is to involve the entire community. We extend a warm welcome to mentors, professional service providers, and those interested in serving Black-owned businesses to contact us on our website to get involved.”
