"I cannot keep the tooth dry when placing a pit and fissure sealant!" I have been a dental hygienist for over 35 years and have not been able to find any dental product that will prevent saliva from contaminating the tooth. Current products on the market either cannot prevent saliva from flowing from the back (distal) of the tooth, pop off the tooth, afraid of patient swallowing/choking, or are too expensive. To solve this gap in the industry, I developed the Disposable Dental Cotton Isolator.
THE BIG IDEA:
The number one reason for sealant failure is saliva contamination. I have found that approximately 25% of sealants placed fail. This leads to unproductive appointments and loss of compensation for the dental hygienist and dentist. My Disposable Isolator wraps all the way around the back(distal) of the tooth to prevent saliva from flowing onto the chewing surface. Also, my product allows the dental hygienist to suction with the left hand and dry, etch, rinse, dry and place a sealant with the right hand. My product can also be used by dentists for the placement of fillings.
WHY MY IDEA IS BETTER THAN THE REST:
My Disposable Dental Cotton Isolator is simple, made of only two products: dental floss and a cotton roll. It is easy to use, no need for another product to place it, use it or the need to be sterilized. My product will be low cost to produce and inexpensive for dentist to purchase. It is disposable, and eliminates cross contamination, which is a big concern for OSHA today. But most important, my Disposable Dental Cotton Isolator WORKS!
THE SKY’S THE LIMIT:
DentalFoos, LLC plans to use the startup capital raised on the Exchange for a logo, website development, E-Commerce and possibly marketing for the sale of the Disposable Dental Cotton Isolator.
