Center for Research & Technology CARTThe Center for Applied Research and Technology at Central Michigan University (CMU) is a 300-acre certified technology park designated by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as the Mt. Pleasant SmartZone. The Mount Pleasant SmartZone has been designed to attract and stimulate growth of high-tech businesses that require a synergistic relationship with a doctoral/research intensive university. The Center is located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan—just minutes from US-127.

The Center for Applied Research and Technology was created as a joint venture between CMU, Middle Michigan Development Corporation and the City of Mount Pleasant. The 29,000 square foot  facility is comprised of a 12,000 sq. ft. incubator facility with high-speed network access and contemporary office space and 17,000 sq. ft addition, completed in February of 2007 which contains of state-of-the-art chemistry and bio-level laboratories.  Space in both areas is immediately available for leasing.
