Federal Grants
Federal grants and loans are available for to help meet a business's key financing needs including debt financing, equity financing, surety bonds, and more. Talk with us; we'll help you explore the potential of federal funding resources. In the meantime, here are some good places to start your own search: the Federal Funding Report, the Federal Register, the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, and the US Small Business Administration.
Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)
SBIR provides research grants or contracts through governmental departments such as the departments of defense, education, and transportation, as well as the National Science Foundation. These are highly competitive research grants focused on innovation startups. A good place to start looking is the SBIR Resource Center.
Foundation grants
Foundations may require that you have non-profit status to receive grants, but before you go through the process of obtaining non-profit status, contact local or national foundations to see whether they would be a fit with your organization and how likely you'd be to receive funding. To research foundations, visit the Foundation Center.

Cities trying to attract new businesses to their area may have incentives to locating there. If you locate here, we'll help you explore and access local loans, grant, or incentives offered through Mt. Pleasant, the SmartZone, and other entities in our region.
