Faculty Brainstorming
A CMU-RC brainstorming meeting is a no-cost exercise held by Central
Michigan University Research Corporation where a company, CMU faculty, and
CMU-RC staff brainstorm and
interact around strategic topics. The topics might be later transformed
into a data driven
model for information, exploration, or prediction.
Purpose: The purpose of the brainstorming session is to discuss specific
business
challenges and objectively explore ways that business intelligence may
provide effective solutions to the business problems. This is accomplished
through open discussion of a problem with business people, university
experts, and professors. There is no fee for this service.
Benefit: The company receives input from a group of knowledgeable but
independent
professors and experts who bring specific expertise that may not be located
in the company. Some examples of this include GIS, CRM, and knowledge of
public data. In the past, these sessions have generated creative and
practical solutions for the company. In addition, they
have proven to be a successful way to tackle problems that appeared
unsolvable and/or
work with companies that just beginning to explore business intelligence
solutions.
