Research Committee
The Research Committee was established to provide large companies
headquartered
in Michigan with a cross-industry forum in which participants are able to
share expertise
and exchange knowledge relevant to business intelligence. There is no
monetary cost
associated with joining the research committee.
Committee FAQ's.
Research committee meetings take place three times a year; the November
meeting is
held in Troy, and the June and February meetings are held in Mt. Pleasant.
The research
committee typically pursues the following agenda:
1) CMU-RC projects update: Status report on activities and discussion of
relevant
research areas followed by feedback from the committee.
2) Informational clinic: A workshop on leading edge or developing business
intelligence research and best practices in areas such as simulation, GIS,
text or
data mining, neural networks, etc.
3) Corporate BI exchange: BI forum for benchmarking, problem definition and
general
information exchange. The format is initiated with the presentation
of one committee
member’s case study problem and evolves into a general discussion and
sharing session.
4) Technology reviews: When appropriate, new technologies or potentially
patentable
technological innovations are presented to the committee for
evaluation and
recommendation for pursuit by CMU-RC.
